M40 traffic live: Lorry breaks down on motorway with road to remain …
The M40[1] is to remain closed overnight for repairs after a lorry broke down earlier on Wednesday (August 9) causing a large diesel spill. The southbound carriageway was closed between J10 (Cherwell Valley) and J9 (Bicester[2]) for much of the day.
National Highways said shortly after 9pm: “The M40 in Oxfordshire is closed southbound between J10 (Cherwell Valley) and J9 (Bicester) following an earlier collision. As a result of the collision, there is a substantial amount of diesel across the carriageway.
“Specialist crews remain at the scene working to resurface the carriageway. These works are likely to remain ongoing throughout the night.”
OxfordshireLive will be providing more details about the incident as details become available in the blog below.
