A man has been arrested after a truck collided into the front of a shop in Bishop's Stortford, causing a woman to be hospitalised with 'serious' injuries. The incident occurred today (Saturday, August 5) just after 10am on North Street in Bishop's Stortford.
Police received reports that a truck collided[1] with the front of a shop in the Hertfordshire town. The incident led the emergency services to rush to the scene, including Hertfordshire Police and the East of England Ambulance Service.
The incident led to the road being closed in Bishop's Stortford[2], which caused disruption to residents. A woman casualty suffered 'serious' injuries following the incident.
Hertfordshire Police[3] subsequently arrested a man on suspicion of drug driving and causing serious injury by driving without due care. A spokesperson for Herts Police said: "We received a report shortly after 10am that a truck had collided with the front of a shop in North Street.

"Officers attended immediately, along with ambulance, fire and air ambulance services. The road has been closed.
"There was one female casualty[5] who was present in the shop at the time. She has been taken to hospital and is currently in a stable condition.
"A male has been arrested on suspicion of drug driving and causing serious injury by driving without due care." A spokesperson for the East of England Ambulance Service said: "One ambulance, two Hazardous Area Response Team Vehicles, an ambulance officer vehicle and Essex and Herts Air Ambulance were called to North Street Bishop's Stortford this morning following reports of a road traffic collision.
"One woman was taken to Addenbrookes Hospital by road ambulance with serious injuries."
