A huge emergency operation is underway as cars are engulfed in flames outside a restaurant in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire.
Fire[1] fighters have been called to the scene after fire broke out on the vehicles on a busy road outside a popular bar and grill. Dramatic pictures show them ablaze as the major incident unfolded on Friday night.
Eyewitnesses reported cars exploding as bar staff confirmed all staff and customers were safe. Harvey's Bar & Kitchen said in a brief statement on social media: "There’s has been a major issue on Penistone road near us.
"All team and customers are safe and well thank you for your concerns and messages. Emergency services are still present and we are working with them."
( Yorkshire Live WS)The fire reportedly broke out at around 9.45pm, with witnesses describing seeing thick black smoke rising from the scene. One witness said: "I saw the smoke from my house and heard a big bang."
A police helicopter has also been seen circling the scene. The full nature of the incident is not currently known. Both West Yorkshire Police[2] and West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service have been contacted for comment.
