Hawksmoor brings back amazing steak deal in nod to striking staff

Lavish restaurant Hawksmoor will be offering guests a huge deal on steak and chips in a nod to striking rail staff.

When rail workers were on strike earlier this year demanding better pay, Hawksmoor, based on Liverpool's Brunswick St[1], announced they would be giving back in its own way. The chain implemented a steak deal, which they said would see them lose money because of how cheap it was[2].

As rail workers prepare to strike again in August and September, Hawksmoor has decided to once again "grab the cow by the horns" and offer diners £15 steak and chips in an attempt to alleviate any potential financial worries, specifically geared towards rail workers whose pay will be affected in the strikes.

In an email to customers, the chain said: "As news stories go, ‘steak restaurants sell steak and chips for less money’ didn’t seem revolutionary. Still, our Strike Steak announcement last month (Steak Frites for £15) made local and national news.

"Almost 10,000 of you visited in 12 days. Making our teams and farmers exceptionally happy; thank you! So now a bit more ‘good?’ news (and we can’t believe we’re saying this) … there are more strikes announced which means £15 Steak Frites is back on.

"Bookings are available now, and judging by the July strikes may not be available for long! Thanks for your support."

The deal is open to everyone on August 24 and September 1 and 2 between midday and 6pm. To redeem the offer, customers will need to write “Strike Steak” in the special request box when booking online or quote the phrase to the host when calling the restaurant or upon arrival.
