Glasgow M77 traffic chaos as emergency services race to crash scene

A crash on the M77 is causing travel delays for drivers this morning as the busy motorway remains closed while emergency services deal with the incident.

Traffic is queuing on the northbound stretch of the motorway which has been closed from J5 to J3.

There’s delays of approximately 32 minutes due to a collision. Police Scotland officers are directing traffic off J5.

Traffic Scotland tweeted: “#M77 Junction 3 Partially blocked Northbound at Junction 3 due to a collision.

“Traffic building on the approach.”

They added: “CLOSED Northbound from Junction 5 due to a collision

“Emergency services are at scene. Approx. 32 minute delay above normal.”

Police Scotland confirmed they are at the scene.

A spokesperson said: “We were made aware of a crash involving two vehicles on the M77 near Junction 3 in Glasgow around 7.40am on Tuesday, 1 August.

“Emergency services are at the scene.”

Motorists have been advised to approach with caution and should allow for longer than normal journey times.

UPDATE: All lanes are now running but delays of 55 minutes are expected following the crash.
