Five people rushed to Edinburgh hospital after West Lothian horror …
Five people have been rushed to hospital in Edinburgh following a major crash in West Lothian.
On Friday, August 18, emergency services raced to the A71 near East Calder after receiving reports of a two-vehicle collision.
The Scottish Ambulance Service sent out three ambulances, a special operations team, and the trauma unit to the scene. Five people have been taken to the Royal Infirmary.
At 7.11am, police and ambulance scrambled to the scene and the road has been closed for several hours in both directions. Edinburgh Live understands traffic was tailing back during rush hour and the road was still closed by 2pm and re-opened at 2.40pm
A spokesperson for the Scottish Ambulance Service said: “We received a call today at 0711 hours to attend a road traffic collision on the A71. We dispatched three ambulances, our special operations team and our trauma team to the scene. We transported five patients to New Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.”
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called around 7.15am to a report of a two vehicle crash on the A71 between East Calder and Livingston.
“Emergency services attended and two people were taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh by ambulance.
“The road was closed and re-opened around 2.40pm.”
