First picture of ‘devoted’ mum killed in horror crash
A woman killed in horror crash has been named as “devoted mum” Christine Jones.
Three people were taken to hospital after a two car crash[1] on Thornton Common Road[2] in Wirral at around 9.05pm on Monday, August 14. Christine, 68, who was a passenger in the Ford Fiesta, tragically died at Aintree Hospital[3] from her injuries days later on Thursday, August 17.
Two men, who were drivers of the cars, sustained serious injuries which are not believed to be life threatening. A 60-year-old man from Neston was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
He has been released under investigation pending further enquiries. In a statement issued today (Saturday), Christine’s family described her as a “devoted” wife, mum and nan who loved her family.
They said: “We would like to express our sincere thanks to all of the emergency services especially the wonderful staff at Aintree University Hospital. She was a devoted wife, mum, nan and great nan who loved her family, her home especially her beautiful garden.”
Detective Sergeant Kurt Timpson from the Matrix Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “Our thoughts are very much with Christine’s family who have asked people to respect their privacy at this difficult time.
“We launched an investigation on Monday and our detectives are gathering evidence. Our priority is to get answers for her family, who are being supported by specially trained officers.
“If you were passing the location and saw or captured the incident on CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage, or believe you witnessed either vehicle prior to the collision, then please get in touch with us. I would also like to thank members of the local community who have assisted us so far, as their support is vital to us.”
