Firefighters battle kitchen blaze in Kegworth as 3 engines attend …

Firefighters battled a blaze in a Kegworth[1] home on Thursday (August 10) afternoon. Three fire engines attended the scene on Heafield Drive.

The report was received by Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service[2] at 1.50pm. The resident reported a fire in the kitchen.

One fire engine from Castle Donington and two from Loughborough attended the scene. According to the fire service, there was a "severe fire, heat and smoke to cooker hood, slight smoke to kitchen".

The fire was dealt with safely by 3pm.

In a statement, Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Incident Commander confirmed fire in cooker hood, 2 firefighters wearing breathing apparatus and using 1 water hose reel extinguished the fire. Crews removing wall cupboards to check for fire spread. Electric supply to cooker hood isolated."
