Emergency crews descend on street after van hits parked cars

A narrow residential street in Knighton[1] was blocked this morning after a van smashed into parked vehicles. Residents in Pope Street woke up to two fire engines, an ambulance and police on their doorstep at around 9am.

The road, near Ellesmere College, was blocked while the incident was dealt with. A resident, who has not been named, said a white van came around the corner and hit a parked car before going into a campervan that was also parked in the narrow street.

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service (LFRS)[2] deployed two crews to the incident to make the vehicles involved safe. A spokesperson for the fire service said: “We were called this morning by the ambulance service to a collision.

“It was reported that a van collided with vehicles which were parked. One person was in the care of ambulance staff when we arrived. We made the vehicles safe and left the scene.”

No serious injuries were reported as a result of the incident. Leicestershire Police[4] also attended and arrested a 41-year-old man for failing to provide a specimen, said a spokesperson for the force.
