Edinburgh drivers issued warning amid traffic tailbacks ‘for miles …

Edinburgh drivers have been issued a warning as lines of traffic[1] queue for ‘miles’.

It comes as the city is buzzing with visitors for the first weekend of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, the Scotland v France rugby game at Murrayfield[2] Stadium, and Truckfest.

One driver spotted cars tailing back ‘for miles’ along the slip road at Ingilston near Edinburgh Airport.[3]

Throughout Saturday, Traffic Scotland has been reporting heavy congestion along the M8, M9 and M90 towards Edinburgh.

At 2.30pm on August 5, taking to social media, it said: ‘”Heavy traffic on routes towards Edinburgh due to a combination of the Rugby at Murrayfield, @Truckfest_Live at Ingliston and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. #M90 southbound J3 – J1B delays around 30 mins.”

Traffic is expected to be disrupted through the weekend as The UCI Championships Men’s Elite Road Race kicks off from Arthur’s Seat at 9.30am on Sunday, August 6.
