Driver dies at the scene after collision with truck on A46 at Laceby
A driver has died following a crash[1] involving a car and a truck on a major Lincolnshire road. The incident, which took place on the A46 at Laceby on Tuesday morning, involved a Ford Focus and a DAF truck carrying a skip.
Police were called to the incident at the road’s junction with Caistor Road shortly before 9am, reports Grimsby Live[2]. The driver of the car was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene while the passenger in the car was taken to hospital to be treated for serious injuries.
As part of their investigation, police are now appealing for any witnesses who have not already spoken to officers to contact them, as well as anyone with dashcam footage of either vehicle prior to the crash. A spokesperson for the force said: “Shortly before 9am this morning we were called to a road traffic collision on the A46 Laceby bypass at the junction with Caistor Road.

“A Ford Focus car was in collision with a DAF truck carrying a skip. The driver of the car sustained fatal injuries in the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The passenger in the car suffered from serious injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment. The driver of the truck was not injured in the collision.
“We are supporting the driver’s family at this distressing time, and our thoughts are with them. The truck was reported to be travelling along the A46 and the car was on Caistor Road when the collision occurred on the A46. We are appealing for any witnesses that have not already spoken to the police to get in touch.
“We are also asking for anyone who may have dash cam footage of either vehicle, prior to the crash to call us on our non-emergency number 101 quoting log 79 of 22 August 2023.”
