Disruption for Edinburgh passengers as person sadly hit by train
Edinburgh passengers are facing disruption after a person was hit by a train.
Train services between Edinburgh and Carlisle have been disrupted following the incident as all lines are now closed until the end of Sunday.
Services may be cancelled or diverted and passengers are being urged to check their journeys for updates.
National Rail states: “A person has been hit by a train between Carlisle and Edinburgh / Glasgow Central. As all lines are currently closed, trains may be cancelled, delayed or diverted until the end of the day.”
The routes affected include Avanti West Coast services between London Euston and Edinburgh and Glasgow Central, and between Birmingham New Street and Edinburgh, also between Crewe and Glasgow Central.
TransPennine Express services between Carlisle, and Manchester Airport and Edinburgh
Passengers may be entitled to compensation if they experience a delay in completing your journey today. National Rail has advised customers to keep their train ticket and make a note of thier journey, as both will be required to support any claim.
