Dad and two friends killed after car ploughs into golf buggy
A British dad has been killed in a horror crash in the USA after a suspected drunk driver's car collided with his golf buggy. Fraser Anderson, 37, was with two friends when a black Escalade SUV hit them in Texas at around 2.45am on Sunday.
Fraser, a dad of two originally from Aberdeen in Scotland, was pronounced dead at the scene. Pal Jacob Wnuk, 37, also died at the scene. Christopher Standridge, 41, was taken to hospital in a critical condition, but later died.
Daniel Rivera, 21, has been charged with three counts of murder. The charges allege he was intoxicated at the time. An eight-year-old girl and a woman are also believed to have been travelling in his car, reports the Daily Record[1].
Family man Fraser leaves behind his wife Gillian and two young children. The couple are understood to have emigrated a number of years ago. Neighbours of the family have now created a fundraising page to help fly his heartbroken Scottish relatives to America for his funeral.
Friend Jennifer Nickel said: "Please help Gillian and her family in this difficult time. Proceeds will go towards travel costs as their family arrives from Scotland to say their goodbyes and to help Gillian and her two small children in the coming weeks."
Jennifer said the 'boisterous' Scotsman will always be remembered as everyone's 'Uncle Fraser'.
She continued: "Fraser's boisterous personality will be deeply missed by everyone who met him. He loved golf, pickleball and most of all, his wife and kids.
"He was a family man and loved to play soccer with his son and the neighbourhood kids. A kid at heart, he will always be remembered as everyone's "Uncle Fraser."
"We are deeply saddened by this sudden loss in our community. Please show your support and help Gillian with this transition."
Friend and fellow ex-pat Jackie Rowan described the crash as a "horrific tragedy".
She added: "The three families - all with young kids - are now dealing with this horrific tragedy but the Andersons have the additional challenge of their families being back home in Scotland."
Imagine Early Education and Childcare in Cypress, where Fraser's children attend, posted a statement from his devastated family.
It read: "On behalf of the Anderson family, who attend Imagine, we are so grateful for the outpouring of support and condolences. Your genuine sympathy, heartfelt words and outreach have been a source of comfort during this very challenging period."
Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez spoke to the media at the scene of the accident on Sunday morning. He said: "It was a devastating crash."
At the time of writing more than £33,000 had been raised for Fraser's family. To make a donation click here.[2]
