Cyclist rushed to hospital after being hit by car on major Sheffield road
A man in his 50s was left in hospital after being hit by a car in Sheffield[1] recently.
On Wednesday, June 14, South Yorkshire Police (SYP)[2] were called to Abbeydale Road, South Yorkshire[3], after a cyclist was hit by a blue Renault Megane just after 8pm. It is believed the Megane was travelling from Carter Knowle Road direction.
The cyclist, a man in his 50s, was rushed to hospital. He suffered serious injuries and had to undergo surgical treatment.
Police are appealing for witnesses and those with dashcam footage to come forward. Confirming the details of what happened, a spokesperson for SYP said: "Officers in Sheffield are appealing for witnesses and those with dashcam footage to come forward and assist with their enquiries into a road traffic collision involving a cyclist.
"On Wednesday June 14, just after 8am, a cyclist was riding along Abbeydale Road in Sheffield when he was involved in a collision with a blue Renault Megane. It is believed the Megane was travelling from Carter Knowle Road direction. The cyclist, a man in his 50’s, was taken to hospital with serious injuries that required surgery.
"The driver remained at the scene and is assisting officers with their enquiries, but to further their understanding, officers are keen to speak to anyone with information or footage."
