Cops seal off Wednesbury street after man shot
A man has suffered potentially life-changing injuries after being shot in the Black Country. West Midlands Police[1] believed the victim, aged in his 30s, was targeted on Bridge Street, in Wednesbury[2], in the early hours of this morning, August 13.
He dropped off at hospital with gunshot injuries at around 4am having been taken there in a Mercedes. Cops said the car had been travelling with a BMW and they traced it back to Edgbaston[3], in Birmingham, where a knife and quantity of drugs were found after a search.
Both of the vehicles have been seized while forensic examinations take place. West Midlands Police say Bridge Street is currently seized off while an investigation into the shooting takes place. The force did not say any arrests have been made so far.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: "We’re investigating after a man was taken to hospital with gunshot injuries in the early hours of this morning (13 Aug). The man, in his 30s, has potentially life-changing injuries, and was dropped off by a Mercedes around 4am.
"We traced the car to Edgbaston which had been travelling with a BMW, a search of which revealed a knife and a quantity of drugs. Both cars have been seized for forensic examination. Our enquiries have led us to believe the shooting took place on Bridge Street in Wednesbury so the area has been sealed off for further examination.
