Car crashes into wall leaving elderly man and woman in hospital

An elderly man and woman have been left in hospital after a car left the road and collided with a wall in Abbots Langley. On Saturday, August 19, a turquoise Suzuki Vitara was travelling west along College Road at around 12.50pm.

According to police, the car then left the carriageway at the roundabout junction with Tibbs Hill Road and then collided with a wall. Paramedics were called to the scene and both the driver, a man in his 80s, and the passenger, a woman in her 90s, suffered serious injuries.

They were taken to Watford General Hospital for treatment. Herts Police is now investigating and appealing for witnesses.

PC Joe Massey, from the Road Policing Unit, said: “Our enquiries are continuing, and we are appealing for anyone with information to place come forward. If you were travelling in the area at the time and had a dash-cam fitted, please check it as you may have some crucial information to assist our enquiries.”

A spokesperson for Herts Police added: “You can report information online at herts.police.uk/report[1], speak to an operator in our Force Communications Room via our online web chat at herts.police.uk/contact[2] or call the non-emergency number 101, quoting Op Swinden.

“Alternatively, you can stay 100% anonymous by contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their untraceable online form at crimestoppers-uk.org[3].”
