Butcher spots angry Homer Simpson in a lamb chop
A trainee butcher was stunned when he spotted the ‘angry’ face of Homer Simpson glaring back at him from a lamb chop. Lee Denyer was diligently prepping a saddle of lamb at work when he glanced down and spotted the recognisable visage of The Simpsons’ patriarch in the animal’s spine.
A striking image of the cartoon-like face shows the clearly defined bald head of the iconic character, bulging eyes, a round nose and even beard stubble, while appearing to sport an ‘angry’ smile. The 32-year-old was taken aback at just how clear the three-inch tall outline was so took a quick snap to show people online who were stunned by the likeness before the chop was sold.
After sharing the snap on social media with the caption ‘Angry Homer Simpson in a Barnsley chop’ it was flooded with comments, racking up nearly 400 likes and comments. Lee, from Lower Dicker, East Sussex, said: “It was an average day of work. I was preparing some chops.

“I could see Homer Simpson staring straight back at me – an angry Homer Simpson. It was so perfect it looked so like him. “I’m a big fan of The Simpsons, who isn’t? Everyone loves The Simpsons. My favourite character is Homer. This chop sold very quickly, they always do.”
Since sharing the cartoon doppelganger online in May, Lee’s post has been flooded with people agreeing on the likeness – but also suggesting it also looks like a luchador, a Mexican lucha libre wrestler. Lee said: “I showed people at work, they were like ‘that’s interesting isn’t it?’ If you’re a butcher you probably see it all the time but it stood out to me.
“When I shared it online people saw different things, Homer Simpson but also a luchador.”
Thrilled social media users shared comments and gifs, agreeing that it did look like Homer and sharing their own lookalike suggestions.
One wrote: “Looks like a luchador.”
Another commented: “Took me a second but yeah I see it! I saw a sea turtle lol.”
