Bus driver dies in serious crash after a collision with a van

A bus driver has died after a serious crash in East Ayrshire. The incident happened on the A77 near Galston at around 5.30pm on Monday near the road’s junction with the A719.

Police Scotland[1] say the accident involved a white Ford Transit and a single decker Stagecoach bus. The driver of the bus, aged 23, was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow with “life-threatening injuries”.

He later died in hospital on Saturday. The 42-year-old male Transit driver was also taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital with serious injuries.

Medical staff at the hospital describe his condition as stable. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and anyone with information, including dash-cam footage, is asked to get in touch.
