Broken down train leaves many commuters stranded – live updates

Many commuters across the South West have been left stranded after a train broke down between Weymouth and Westbury, sparking mass cancellations.

National Rail has said it expects disruption to continue until 7.30pm. Replacement road transport is conveying passengers between Weymouth and Westbury in that direction only.

A statement on the National Rail website reads: "A broken down train between Weymouth and Westbury means fewer trains are able to run. As a result, trains running between these stations may be cancelled or revised."

Routes between Weymouth and Gloucester / Bristol Temple Meads are affected by the disruption.
