Bellway starts work on 108 Chorley houses
Euxton Heights will deliver a mix of detached and semi-detached properties on the former DXC Technology site off Euxton Lane near Buckshaw Village.
Contractor BSH has begun the remediation work and the demolition of the existing office buildings on the 7.5-acre site to prepare for the delivery of 108 houses.
APD Architects designed the scheme on behalf of Bellway Homes. Plans include 30 two-, 53 three-, and 25 four-bedroom houses, of which 13 will be available for affordable rent or shared ownership.
Each home will feature a private garden and one or two allocated car parking spaces, including electric vehicle charging provision.
Grace Yarlett, sales director at Bellway Manchester, highlighted that the residents will benefit from established infrastructure, amenities, and facilities within nearby Buckshaw Village, as well as road and rail connections.
“Euxton Heights is perfectly placed for commuters and also those looking to enjoy the best of Lancashire’s wonderful open spaces, thriving market towns, and coastline”, she said.
Bellway was granted planning permission for the scheme following a successful appeal in April[1], where Chorley Council withdrew any objections to the plans one day into an inquiry.
The authority’s planning committee rejected the application last September due to an unacceptable reduction in employment land and the belief that the site was unsustainable for residential development.
The Planning Inspectorate refuted the council’s arguments and approved the scheme, highlighting Chorley’s lack of a five-year housing supply.
Construction on the project is expected to take around four years with the first properties released for sale later this year and show homes expected in early 2024.
Pegasus Planning is the scheme’s planning consultant. Also on the project team is transport consultant Eddisons, landscape architect Landscape Design Solutions, civil engineer Site Infrastructure Services, and engineering consultant IGE Consulting.
