Air ambulance called to scene after woman seriously injured in fall from motorway bridge

A woman suffered serious injuries after falling from a bridge over the M62[1]. The air ambulance was called to the scene near Milnrow in Rochdale[2], following the incident on Saturday evening.

A GMP spokesperson said the woman suffered injuries which were 'serious, but not life-threatening'. The westbound carriageway were closed by police following the fall at about 6pm.

Witnesses reported seeing an air ambulance land in a nearby field. National Highways North West tweeted: "Traffic has been stopped on the M62 westbound between J21 Milnrow and J20 (A627M) for a police led incident.

"Please be patient we'll try and get you moving again soon."

The traffic agency said all lanes reopened around an hour later.
