A417 roundabout closure and new 30mph zones among …
Motorists heading out on the county’s roads in the coming weeks could face closures, diversions, and temporary traffic lights in many parts of Gloucestershire while improvements and upgrades are rolled out on the road network. This will include another A417 closure at the start of September for essential resurfacing, which will close a major roundabout in Gloucester.[1][2][3]
Drivers[4] will need to be aware of new 30mph speed-restricted zones that will be rolled out in the Forest of Dean[5] around May Hill, a key county landmark that many will know as the large hill with a thicket of trees on top that lets you know you are nearly home. This will see maximum speeds on the route drop by 30mph from their current national speed limit (60mph).
As always, there is a long list of minor routes from Tewkesbury[6] to Gloucester that are being closed or restricted while essential work is carried out on the county’s gas, water, and internet connections. To find out which routes are affected by road closures as you head out on Gloucestershire’s roads, check our list of Gloucestershire Highways notices below.
