A40 biker rushed to hospital after crash in Cotswolds

A motorcyclists has been taken to hospital following a crash on a busy Cotswolds[1] road. Emergency services were called out to the A40[2] in Lower Dowdeswell at around 1.30pm after receiving reports of a single-vehicle crash.

Gloucestershire Police[3] said the incident involved a biker. The force said the rider has been rushed to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital for treatment.

A road closure has been set up by police between the junctions for Dowdeswell and Whittington while the incident is dealt with. An appeal for witnesses has also been issued by police as they continue to investigate the crash.

A police spokesperson said: "We're at the scene of a collision on the A40 in Lower Dowdeswell near Andoversford. Emergency services were called shortly after 1.30pm with a report of a single vehicle collision involving a motorcyclist.

"The motorcyclist has been taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital for treatment. A road closure has been put into place between the junctions for Dowdeswell and Whittington while emergency services remain at the scene.

"Officers are asking anyone who witnessed the collision and hasn’t already spoken to them to report information online by completing the following form[5] and quoting incident 243 of 9 August."
