A36 crash victim named as ‘loving’ grandmother by family
Yvonne Faulkner died in a three-vehicle collision, involving two cars and a lorry, on the A36 between Chapmanslade and Warminster on Friday, August 11.[1]
Following the incident, in which a man in his 30s and a woman in her 20s were also seriously injured, her family released a tribute celebrating her life.
Yvonne was described as a “much-loved grandmother and mother” who enjoyed life and was “loving, kind and fiercely loyal to her family and friends.”
She was in her 70s and had been looking forward to a holiday cruising around Iceland next month.
Yvonne’s son Andrew says the family have been left shocked but will remember her fondly as a loving grandmother and mother.
He said: “To lose my mother like this is such a shock but I will hold on to the many great memories I have of her and her sheer determination to enjoy life and the love she showed her family."
Yvonne’s grandson Joe added: "She was a great nan and always supported me. I will always remember her and try to make her proud."

Police have asked that the family’s privacy is respected while they come to terms with their loss.
Their enquiries into the crash are ongoing, and any witnesses or those with information should contact the serious collision investigation team to share what they know.
A spokesperson for the force said: “A woman in her 70s has sadly died following a road traffic collision involving two cars and an HGV on the A36 near Upton Scudamore.
“Two other people, a man in his 30s and a woman in her 20s, were taken to hospital to be treated for serious but not life-threatening injuries.
“Any witnesses or anyone who may have dashcam footage are asked to contact the serious collision investigation team on 01225 694597 quoting log number POL-20230811-0199.
“Alternatively, contact the team directly on [email protected].”
Police closed the main route towards Warminster, near Upton Scudamore, for almost 24 hours following the incident, which took place at around 2pm.
During this time forensic investigation work was carried out overnight by specially trained officers, while motorists were urged to avoid the area and seek alternative routes.
National Highways confirmed that the road had reopened the following afternoon, just after 1pm, and thanked road users for their patience.
