A354 Portland Beach Road closed as pedestrian hit by lorry

The road is currently closed and police say it will remain so 'for some time.'

Emergency services, including six police vehicles and two ambulances, are at the scene of the serious collision.

The road has now closed in both directions.

A Dorset Police spokesperson said: "Emergency services are currently attending a serious collision on the Portland Beach Road involving a pedestrian and a lorry.

"The road is closed and likely to remain so for some time. Please avoid the area to enable officers to safely deal with the scene.

"Many thanks for everyone’s patience."

Travel Dorset states the road closure is in place between A354 (Weymouth) to Ferrymans Way (Portland).'

There is heavy traffic and motorists are advised to avoid the area.
