Woman trapped in overturned car after Congleton smash
A woman was left trapped in an overturned car after a smash. Police, firefighters and paramedics were called out to Giantswood Lane, in Congleton[1], yesterday afternoon to reports of a collision.
Officers found a silver Peugeot Combi had crashed into a stationary blue Land Rover Defender. The Peugeot overturned as a result of the crash – leaving the woman trapped.
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service[2] sent two fire engines to the scene and helped to release the casualty from the car. Cheshire Police say the woman, who is 61, was taken to hospital.
A spokesperson for the fire service said: “Firefighters were called to a collision involving two cars on Giantswood Lane, in Congleton. Crews extricated a casualty who was trapped inside one of the cars and handed them into the care of paramedics.”
Police[3] were called out at 2.45pm.
A police spokesman said: “Officers attended the scene and found that a silver Peugeot Combi had collided with a stationary vehicle. The Peugeot overturned as a result of the collision and the driver was released from the car by firefighters. The 61-year-old woman was taken to Leighton Hospital and officers left the scene at around 6pm.”
