Woman discovers ‘game-changing’ button at petrol pump that gets …
With the cost of living crisis upon us, for many, it means being extra careful with money. And filling up our cars is no exception as we often go to the petrol station knowing how much we want to spend.
But it can be so difficult to get the numbers to line up perfectly and sometimes it means going over that limit that you set. So, if this is something you find happening to you all too often, then this hack could be the solution you're looking for.
A woman has gone viral on TikTok after sharing a look at a seemingly little-known petrol pump trick that could save you money and time - and all you need to do is push a button, the Mirror[1] reports.
Known only as Livs, the 23-year-old who posts under @livticks[3] shared her shock after discovering a preset button when she was filling up her car.
Filming the petrol pump, she explained: "How did I never know this existed?!
"If you click this button two times ten for £20. It will stop itself at exactly £20.
"Wow! That's so cool."
(Image: livticks/Tiktok/Mirror)Her clip showed how the cost and fuel on the petrol pump screen was going up - until the sale reached £20 exactly and it stopped.
She also showed a close-up of the preset section on the bottom-right-hand side of the pump, which features five buttons of different price and litre options and an explanation for how to use them.
More than two million people have since watched the video, with over 164,000 liking it and thousands commenting on the "petrol life hack".
One person said: "Wait. You mean no more £20.01???"
Another replied to say that not all petrol stations have the button, but for the ones that do it's a "game-changer".
A third posted: "You can also set it to stop at a certain literage too. Tesco[4] is the only ones I know with it tho."
"Always learning," proclaimed someone else.
A different user added: "I've never seen this."
Definitely something to keep an eye out for next time you go to fill up your car!
