Wetherspoon drinkers forced to evacuate after pub is plunged into …

A Wetherspoon pub was plunged into darkness during a power cut last night (July 27), forcing punters to abandon their drinks and any uneaten food. One local said the lights suddenly went out, forcing him to leave his unfinished pint behind.

The power outage affected parts of Tiverton, in Devon. Those in The White Ball Inn were told to leave the boozer by the management, much to their frustration.

As reported by DevonLive[1], local Lewis Clarke said: "'Spoons is in darkness. Can't get a bloody pint now.

"The manager just came over and said we are going to have to leave. The lights flickered, so we ain't going anywhere yet...!"

However, soon after the pub asked punters to leave. At the time of the outage, National Grid said: "We are aware of this power cut incident which was raised at 9:51pm tonight and our engineers are working to get the power returned as quickly as possible. We are sorry for any inconvenience this is causing you.

Lewis shared a photo of Westexe in Tiverton in complete darkness due to the power cut. The National Grid confirmed the power was restored at 11.30pm.
