Two people dead as Audi RS6 and VW Polo collide

Two people have died following a crash in Frome and another is fighting for their life in hospital. Emergency services were called out to the A361 Frome Bypass at around 10.30pm on Tuesday night (July 25) after receiving reports of a serious crash[1] involving a VW Polo and an Audi RS6.

Avon and Somerset Police[2] have confirmed this afternoon (July 26) that two people from one of the cars were pronounced dead at the scene. Another person from the second car was airlifted to hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries.

Due to an investigation being carried out at the scene of the crash, the A361 remains closed from Berkley Roundabout to the junction with the A362 Rodden Down. Motorists have been advised to seek alternative routes and Avon and Somerset Police have extended their thanks to them for their patience and understanding as the investigation continues.

Officers are looking to speak to anyone who witnessed the crash, or the moments leading up to it, who have not yet spoken with the police. Anyone with any relevant footage including CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage of the time around the collision should also contact us.

Officers are especially keen to speak with the driver of a white VW who was in the vicinity at the time of the collision, or anyone else who saw the two cars before 10.30pm. Those who think they can help have been advised to call 101 and give the call handler the reference number 5223178752, or complete a online appeals form[4].
