The daily commute can be a bit of a chore, especially with all the travel disruption and train strikes currently.

It helps to be informed about road closures and rail strikes to prepare alternative routes. And with rail strikes once again taking place over this December, there will be widespread travel disruption across the region this Christmas.

Recently, many of us have faced issues trying to get around in Birmingham and beyond because of big events or strikes or other disruptions. And, being caught unawares at the last minute can be quite frustrating.

Yellow weather warning in place as thunderstorms expected in the West Midlands.

Roadworks and motorway closures

  1. Station Drive, Dudley – road closure from Monday, 8 March 2021 to Thursday, 30 November 2023

  2. Heath Street – lane closure from Thursday, 1 December 2022 to Sunday, 31 December 2023

  3. Heartlands Parkway, Birmingham – road closure from Saturday, 14 August 2021 to Tuesday, 31 December 2024.

  4. Clock Island, Solihull – Lane closure from Monday, 21 November 2022 to Tuesday, 21 November 2023

  5. Lane closure at Spring Hill, Birmingham until September 1, 2023.

Bus disruption

1. Dudley: Birmingham Street will be closed for works to start on the Midland Metro extension from 13th February – Until further notice. Services affected are NXWM Black Country 2, 6, 7, 8, 12, 12a, 14 and X8.
