Tragedy as man dies in two-car crash
A man has tragically died after a two-car crash on the Birmingham and Solihull[1] border this morning (Wed). The incident happened at around 7:42 am this morning on Houndsfield Lane near Hollywood on the outskirts of the village of Wythall.
The emergency services raced to the scene of the collision where crews found three male patients. Work began on all three men, and advance life support was provided by the ambulance service.
Sadly, despite the best efforts of medics, West Midlands Ambulance confirmed nothing could be done to save one of the men. West Mercia Police are now appealing for witnesses, urging anyone with information to get in touch.
Ambulance statement
A West Midlands Ambulance spokesperson confirmed the sad news this afternoon. A service spokesperson said: “A man has died following a two-car RTC this morning.
“West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to Houndsfield Lane, Hollywood, near to the Worcestershire and Birmingham border at 7.42am and sent two ambulances, a paramedic officer and a MERIT trauma doctor to the scene.
They added: “Crews arrived to find two cars that had suffered significant damage and three patients, all male.
“One of the patients was trapped inside his vehicle and ambulance staff worked with emergency services partners to provide advanced life support whilst he was being freed.
“Treatment continued once the patient was out of the car but sadly, despite everyone’s best efforts, it became apparent nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene.
