Tragedy as man dies after being hit by lorry

A man has tragically died after being hit by a lorry in Rotherham this morning.

Emergency services rushed to Car Hill in Greasbrough at 11am on Friday, July 14, to reports there had been an accident involving a pedestrian and a DAF lorry. The incident happened outside the entrance to the recycling centre.

It was on the downhill carriageway heading towards Rotherham town centre, South Yorkshire Police said. The road was shut in both directions earlier this morning while emergency services were at the scene.

The pedestrian was a man in his 60s, and he sadly died at the scene. His next of kin are aware.
