TfL disruption this weekend (July 29-30): Bakerloo, Piccadilly …

With RMT members striking on Saturday (July 29), National Rail services will be impacted for travellers and there will be a knock-on effect in London. Transport for London (TfL) says the action may affect some District line, London Overground, Elizabeth line and tram services.

Passengers are advised to plan ahead, check with TfL[1] before travelling and allow extra time for journeys.

Bakerloo line

No service between Queen’s Park and Harrow & Wealdstone.[2] For travel to or from central London, use alternative routes via the Jubilee, Metropolitan, Central or Piccadilly lines, London Northwestern Railway services or local bus routes. For stations between Queen’s Park and Harrow & Wealdstone, use bus routes 18, N18, 36, 112, 266, 487, 718 and 719. Bus routes 718 and 719 are temporary routes that will run throughout this line closure.

Bus route 718 will run daily every 10 minutes between Queen’s Park and Harrow & Wealdstone. Bus route 719 will run every 15 minutes from 7am to 7pm on Monday to Friday only between Wembley Park and Queen’s Park.

No service between Stonebridge Park and Harrow & Wealdstone. For travel to/from central London, use alternative routes via the Jubilee, Metropolitan, Central or Piccadilly lines, London Northwestern Railway services or local bus routes. For stations between Stonebridge Park and Harrow & Wealdstone, use bus routes 18, N18, 36, 79, 83, 112, 182, 223, 258, 260, 266, 440, 483, 487 and 718.

Bus route 718 is a temporary route that will run throughout this line closure. Bus route 718 will run daily every 10 minutes between Stonebridge Park and Harrow & Wealdstone.

District line

No service between Earl’s Court and Ealing Broadway/Richmond. Use alternative Tube and rail services, or local or replacement bus routes. Replacement buses will run between Earl’s Court and Acton Town.

Piccadilly line

No service between Green Park and Acton Town.

No service between Hyde Park Corner and Acton Town, including during Saturday Night Tube.

Use alternative Tube and rail services, or local or replacement bus routes. Rail replacement buses will run between Earl’s Court and Acton Town and will extend to Gloucester Road, South Kensington, Knightsbridge and Hyde Park Corner during Night Tube hours. This service will also call at Green Park during Friday Night Tube.

London Overground

No service between Watford Junction and Euston.[3] Use London Northwestern Railway services or bus route 720. Bus route 720 is a temporary bus route that will run throughout the closure. Bus route 720 will run every 20 minutes between Watford Junction and Harrow-on-the-Hill (via Harrow & Wealdstone). For the Metropolitan line, stay on bus route 720 and alight at Harrow-on-the-Hill.

For stations between Queen’s Park and Harrow & Wealdstone, use bus routes 18, N18, 36, 112, 266, 487, 718 and 719 to connect with alternative rail services. Bus routes 718 and 719 are temporary routes that will run throughout this line closure. Bus route 718 will run daily every 10 minutes between Harrow & Wealdstone and Queen’s Park. Bus route 719 will run every 15 minutes from 7am to 7pm on Monday to Friday only between Wembley Park and Queen’s Park.

No service between Hackney Downs and Chingford. Use alternative Tube services or local bus routes. A rail replacement bus service will run.

No service between Barking and Barking Riverside. Use local bus routes EL1, EL2 and EL3 for Barking Riverside. For trains going to Gospel Oak from Barking, use platform 1.

No service between New Cross Gate and West Croydon/Crystal Palace. Use Southern Railway services for Brockley, Honor Oak Park, Forest Hill, Sydenham, Crystal Palace, Norwood Junction and West Croydon. For Anerley and Penge West, use local bus routes.

No service between Camden Road and Stratford after 10.15pm. For Caledonian Road and Barnsbury, use bus route 274 to/from Camden Road or walk to/from Highbury & Islington. A rail replacement bus service will run.

No service between Highbury & Islington and Dalston Junction after 10.15pm. Use local bus route 30 or the rail replacement bus service.

No service between Watford Junction and Willesden Junction.Use London Northwestern Railway services or bus routes 718 and 720. Bus routes 718 and 720 are temporary routes that will run throughout this line closure. Bus route 720 will run every 20 minutes between Watford Junction and Harrow-on-the-Hill (via Harrow & Wealdstone). Bus route 718 will run every 10 minutes between Harrow & Wealdstone and Stonebridge Park.

Docklands Light Railway (DLR)

No service between Bank and Lewisham/Canning Town, between Tower Gateway and Canning Town and between Stratford and Canary Wharf (via All Saints). Use the Jubilee line, Southeastern railway services or local bus routes. A rail replacement bus service will run between Tower Gateway and Canning Town, between Westferry and Island Gardens and between Canada Water and Lewisham. Rail replacement bus services between Tower Gateway and Canning Town will run from 5.30am on Saturday until 1am on Sunday.

No service between Stratford International and Canning Town. Use the Jubilee line or local bus routes. For Stratford and Stratford International, use bus routes 97 or 108. For Stratford, Stratford High Street, Abbey Road, West Ham and Star Lane, use bus route 276. For Star Lane and Canning Town, use bus route 323.

River Thames services

No service on the Woolwich Ferry. The Woolwich Ferry is closed for dry docks works. Drivers are encouraged to use alternative river crossings at Dartford, Blackwall, and Rotherhithe. Pedestrians should use Woolwich Foot Tunnel or the DLR between King George V and Woolwich Arsenal.

London buses and roads

Bus journeys will be affected by the following changes this weekend. Services may be delayed or diverted, or stop short of their normal destination.

The Kisstory concert will be taking place in Blackheath from midday to 10pm. Road closures will be in place between Mounts Pond Road, Wat Tyler Road and Goffers Road. Large crowds and increased traffic are expected.

A demonstration will be taking place in the Whitehall area between 1pm and 5pm. Large crowds are expected.

In Trafalgar Square a demonstration will be taking place from 2pm to 5pm. Large crowds are expected.

The O2 arena will be hosting Peter Kay from 6pm to 11.30pm. Increased traffic and large crowds are expected.

The South Asian Heritage Month Festival will be taking place in the Camden area from 7.30am until 2pm each day. Large crowds and increased traffic are expected.

Sporting events will be taking place at ExCeL London from 7.30am until 6pm each day. Large crowds and increased traffic are expected.

The Rathayatra Festival will be taking place in the central London area from midday to 5pm. Large crowds and increased traffic are expected.

The Uptown Festival will be taking place in Blackheath from midday to 1pm. Road closures will be in place between Mounts Pond Road, Wat Tyler Road and Goffers Road. Large crowds and increased traffic are expected.

Wandsworth Bridge closure

Until the end of September, Wandsworth Bridge will be closed to all motorised traffic[4]. This is while the London Borough of Wandsworth carries out safety repairs. The bridge will be open for walking. If you are cycling, you’ll be able to push your bike across. Diversions will be in place, but all local roads and nearby river crossings are expected to be extremely busy.

Bus routes C3, 295 and 28 will stop short north of the river while route N28 will be diverted across Battersea Bridge. A temporary bus route, 728 will run between Wandsworth Town Centre and Fulham Broadway via Battersea Bridge.
