Stowmarket property deal at A14 Gateway 14 scoops award
The sale of a huge £200m warehouse off the A14 at Stowmarket has been crowned the region's top deal.
Last year, garden and leisure products retailer The Range[1] snapped up a 1.17m sq ft warehouse currently under construction at Gateway 14 - a huge industrial and logistics park taking shape off Junction 50 opposite an out-of-town Tesco supermarket.
Developer Jaynic and Gateway 14 Ltd - which is wholly owned by Mid Suffolk District Council - scooped the Deal of The Year Award at The UK Property Forum’s Eastern Echo Awards for securing the sale.
More than 200 property professionals gathered at Homerton College, Cambridge, for the ceremony - with 11 prizes up for grabs.
The public-private partnership behind the Gateway 14 scheme expressed delight at the win.
The landmark sustainable building - being built by Winvic Construction[2] - will include EV charging, LED lighting, solar PV, smart energy systems and rainwater harvesting.
Gateway 14 Ltd managing director Emily Atack said: “It’s fantastic to receive recognition for this deal and its significance to the region – with this highly sustainable development set to bring 1,650 new jobs to Suffolk.”
Jaynic development director Ben Oughton, said: “It is an honour to win the deal of the year award for what is the largest warehouse being developed in the region for many years.
"The whole team is working extremely hard to complete the building in the autumn for The Range.”
Gateway 14 Ltd hopes to boost the local economy and attract investment into the region through the park, which is part of Freeport East - one of only eight Freeports in the UK - which gives it a special tax and customs status.
