Severe delays on A34 and Oxford roads after bomb incident

Severe traffic[1] congestion is being reported close by to where police were called to a bomb incident.

British Transport Police were called to reports of a device which was believed to date back to WW2 at 1.30pm today near to Becker Street.

All trains between Oxford and Didcot[2] were immediately cancelled police officers attended the scene alongside the Explosive Ordinance Disposal.

The AA has since reported severe delays on the Abingdon[3] Road in the New Hinksey area and this is also affecting the A4144.

There are also delays on the A34, with delays of four minutes and increasing northbound between A4138 Oxford[4] Road and Westminster Way.

An Oxford City Council spokesman has said: “We are in liaison with the emergency services over this incident.

“Redbridge Park and Ride is not affected.”
