A serious car crash which took place on the A40 is thought to have happened near an event attended by hundreds of people, a police update has revealed.

Thames Valley Police is appealing for information in connection with serious crash on the A40 near Cassington, which the force has stated it believes took place near to an event attended by several hundred people.

Investigating Officer, Sergeant James Matthews, said: “I am appealing to anyone who attended the event, or anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or has any footage of the collision or the vehicles to please contact the police.

“I would also appeal to anybody who may have dash-cam footage from around the time of the collision to please contact us.”

A Mercedes Benz Vito and a Hyundai Santa Fe crashed on the A40 between Horsemere Lane and Eynsham Road at around 12.15am on Sunday (July 9), which also resulted in pedestrians being injured.

Thames Valley Police, South Central Ambulance Service and Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue attended the scene.

Several people attended hospital with serious, but non-life threating injuries.

No arrests have been made at this stage[2] of this investigation.
