‘Serious’ A39 multi-vehicle crash bringing travel woe to Westcountry …

Hundreds of holidaymakers heading to the coast are suffering major delays following a serious crash on the A39 in Cornwall[1]. The road near Truro is closed in both directions following a collision involving three vehicles.

Traffic monitoring service Inrix says the busy road is closed in both directions due to the three-vehicle incident between Newquay Road and Carland Cross. There are traffic delays to the A30 due to the road closure as drivers seek to avoid the closure. It is unclear how many people have been injured in the collision. The road may be closed for some time.

Inrix reports: “A39 in both directions closed, heavy traffic due to accident, three vehicles involved between Newquay Road (Truro) and A30 (Carland Cross, Carland Cross). Congestion to the A30 as traffic must now avoid the closure.”

Devon and Cornwall Police have been approached for further details about the incident.
