Ring doorbell captures moment woman wielding ‘machete’ attacks …
One mum’s doorbell camera[1] captured terrifying footage of a woman wielding a “machete” in scenes said to be straight out a “horror film”.
Susan Blackburn was upstairs in bed, getting ready to go to sleep at her Anfield home when she heard a sudden bang.
It was followed by sounds her dogs[2] barking, when the incident took place on Friday 14, July, and Susan went downstairs to investigate.
Her two daughters were both asleep at the time, unaware of what happened.
But Susan found nothing out of the ordinary, so went back to bed, unaware of what had just happened.
Man confronts Just Stop Oil protestors blocking roads in biggest EVER slow-march demo[3]It wasn’t until around 4pm the next day when Susan went to look at her Ring doorbell, after hearing a car outside, that she found it was no longer connected.
But what the 41-year-old saw left her gobsmacked.
The last video recorded on the camera shows a woman striding up her driveway armed with what she said was a machete.
The stranger calmly approaches the house, grasping in the dark for the gate latch before opening and letting herself in.
She then walks up the short front path off the well-lit street, carrying something in her hand.
She stops just off centre of the doorbell and then swings double handed for it, last captured standing above it after it's been knocked off.
Susan told the Liverpool ECHO[4]: "I was absolutely horrified. It was like something from a horror movie. The size of the blade she pulled out, I was just terrified. I just couldn’t believe what I had just seen.
"I heard a bang at about five past 12 at night. I thought my daughter dropped something out of the bed. I got up to check the house obviously. My two daughters were asleep. I went downstairs, the dogs were barking. I just thought something had fallen in the house."
On Saturday, Susan said: "I hadn’t noticed the Ring doorbell had gone. No one had come to the house that day. I heard someone outside and went to look on the Ring doorbell and it wasn’t connecting and the picture was unusual so I checked the last video.
“That’s the last footage that’s on my Ring doorbell. I was just gobsmacked. I don’t know what her intentions were."
Susan said the incident was completely "out of the blue" and she doesn't know who the woman could be. She has reported the incident to police, and said her local neighbourhood team have identified the weapon as a cane machete.
A Merseyside Police[5] Spokesperson said: "We can confirm we received a report that a smart doorbell had been stolen from the outside of a property in Anfield on Friday 14 July. It was reported at around 12.05am that a woman had used a machete to knock the item off the front of a home and then stole it.
"There are no reports that the weapon was used to threaten anyone."
