Police probe ‘unexplained death’ after elderly woman found dead at …

An investigation has been launched into the 'unexplained' death of a woman in Wiltshire[1] this afternoon (July 31). Police[2] have set up a scene in White Street, Market Lavington, after the woman, aged in her 90s, was declared dead at the scene.

The force were called to a property at around 12.25pm following a report concerning the welfare of a woman. Sadly, she was pronounced dead and investigating officers have now launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.

Police add that a second woman, aged in her 50s, was taken to hospital following a medical episode. There is not believed to be a wider risk to the public.

Devizes[4] Police said: "We have set up a scene in White Street, Market Lavington, following a sudden death inside a property.

"We were contacted at around 12.25pm today (31/07) following a report concerning the welfare of a woman in her 90s. Sadly, upon our arrival, the woman was declared dead at the scene.

"Her death is currently being treated as unexplained and we are carrying out enquiries to understand more about the circumstances. Our investigation is at a very early stage, but there is nothing to suggest any wider risk to the public.

"A second woman, aged in her 50s, has been taken to hospital following a medical episode."
