A motorcyclist who crashed his bike in Conwy has since died, police have said. Tony Hughes, 42, was involved in a “serious collision” in his home village of Mochdre, west of Colwyn Bay[1], on Tuesday, July 11.

North Wales Police[2] (NWP) officers were called to the incident on Conway Road shortly after 8pm following a report of a one-vehicle collision involving a Kawasaki motorcycle. Wales Air Ambulance airlifted Mr Hughes to Royal Stoke University Hospital, which has a major trauma unit.

At the time he was reported to have “life-threatening injuries”[3]. He died in the early hours of Friday morning.

Police have now renewed an appeal for witnesses or anybody with dashcam footage to contact the force. In a statement, the force said: “Sadly, we can confirm that the motorcyclist who was involved in a serious collision in Mochdre last week has died.”

Sgt Nicola Laurie, of the NWP Roads Policing Unit, added: “Our thoughts are with Mr Hughes’ family and friends at this difficult time. We continue to appeal for witnesses or anyone who may have witnessed the manner of riding prior to the collision to contact us.

“Equally, anyone who was travelling in the area at the time and who may have dash cam footage are also urged to contact us.” Conway Road is the main route through Mochdre.
