Police issue update after street off main road cordoned off

An area was cordoned off after reports of a major police scene in the early hours.

A cordon was in place on part of Townsend Avenue at the junction with Kingsland Crescent in Norris Green[1] on Sunday. Kingsland Crescent was reportedly closed to vehicles and the nearby park shut off to residents.

Police vehicles and a cordon remained at the scene at lunchtime on Sunday. Witnesses claimed up to 15 police cars, including dog units, had arrived in the area at 1am.

The ECHO contacted Merseyside Police,[3] who said a house was being "held" on the street. They confirmed the incident was not related to an assault or any sort of violence. They said there was no wider threat to members of the public.
