A three-year-old boy was taken to hospital after being hit by a teenager riding an e-bike as he and his mother crossed the road with a lollipop lady, this afternoon (Monday, July 10).
Police said the teenager who was wearing all black clothing did not stop and fled the scene near Christ the King Roman Catholic Primary School in Thornaby, Stockton.
Emergency services were alerted to the incident in Tedder Avenue at 3.30pm. While the boy’s injuries were initially thought to be serious they turned out to be only minor cuts and bruises.
Police are tonight trying to trace the teenager and have appealed for information.
A Cleveland Police spokesperson said: “A three-year-old boy was knocked to the ground by a teenager riding an e-bike on Tedder Avenue at 3.30pm this afternoon, Monday 10th July.
“The toddler and his mother were crossing with the lollipop lady, near to Christ the King RC Primary School, when a teenager wearing all black clothing, continued to ride over the crossing and knocked the toddler to the ground.
“His injuries, whilst initially thought to be serious, turned out to be only minor cuts and bruises.
