Police car crashes into Jaguar on way to 999 call
A police vehicle was involved in a crash while responding to a call in Stroud[1]. The collision took place on King Street at around 11.30am yesterday (July 2).
A picture from the scene outside the Merrywalks Centre shows the impact of the crash, with the front of the Gloucestershire Police[2] car damaged. The car - a Jaguar - which the police vehicle smashed into also sustained significant damage with its rear passenger door badly dented.
Pieces of debris can also be seen scattered along the road at the scene of the crash. It has been confirmed that no one was injured.
A police spokesperson said: "Officers attended King Street in Stroud shortly before 11.30am yesterday morning (Sunday, July 2) following reports of a collision outside Merrywalks Centre.
"The collision involved a police car which was responding to an incident and a member of the public's car. The occupants of the cars did not sustain any injuries."
It is the second crash involving a police car in the space of a few days in Gloucestershire. On June 24, a vehicle on an emergency call collided with a car in Gloucester, leading to the latter ending up on its roof[4].
The incident unfolded at the junction of Cole Avenue and Bristol Road at around 4.20pm and led to road closures being put in place for a couple of hours. The incident has been referred to industry watchdog the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
