Police board up property after occupant makes neighbours’ lives a …
Police have boarded up a property after the 41-year-old male occupant made neighbours’ lives a misery with his anti-social behaviour.
Anyone setting foot inside the property on Barton Court in Winsford[1] could find themselves getting arrested for doing so, now that the closure order is in place. It was obtained by officers from the Winsford Beat Management Team, who provided evidence of a sustained period of anti-social behaviour by the occupant.
Cheshire Police said the order would bring “welcome respite” to the long-suffering members of the community. The order was granted at Crewe[2] Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (July 27).
The property must now remained closed for three months and the order will be reviewed after this period. During this period the occupant will need to find alternative accommodation.
PC Wayne Thomas said: “The closure was obtained with the assistance of the local community and the closure will provide welcome respite to the wider community. I hope that this closure will serve as a warning that people who choose to behave in this way can lose their homes as a consequence of their actions.
“The anti-social behaviour closure is a stand-alone order which is just one of the tools which are being used by Cheshire Police to tackle criminal activity within the community. I would urge anyone who has concerns about ASB-related issues to please report it to us and will do everything we can to tackle it.”
Anyone with concerns about ASB in their area is asked to report it to Cheshire Police via cheshire.police.uk/tell-us[4] or call 101.
