Plymouth roadworks affecting motorists in the city this week
A whole raft of new roadworks are set to start this week in Plymouth. They are in addition to the existing schemes already ongoing in the city.
For the next two weeks, there will traffic lights in place on Eggbuckland Road, 24 hours a day. This is so fibre cable works can be carried out in the area.
On Montpelier Road, for the next six weeks, there will be traffic lights in place at the Beacon Park junction. They will be in place 24 hours a day so that a new crossing can be installed.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, closures are in place on Tavistock Road. One lane is closed in each direction between Charlton Road and Budshead Way from 9.30am to 3.30pm, for signage works.
And on Saltash Road, from Thursday, for the next month, one lane is closed outside dockyard emergency entrance (between Ocean Street and Wolseley Road), 24 hours a day, for works to allow a new substation to be installed.
Plymouth City Council has helpfully put out a list of roadworks that will be taking place across the city over the next week. The council is responsible for coordinating works carried out by utility companies, developers and other organisations as well as their own repair, maintenance and improvement works.
They maintain all public roads in Plymouth except the A38, which is managed by National Highways on behalf of the Department for Transport.
“We know there’s no good time to close roads, especially on busy routes and we do everything we can to co-ordinate planned works and minimise their impact on our transport network,” a City Council spokesman said.
The following roadworks are taking place in Plymouth between Monday 10 and Saturday 15 July.
