A road is closed in Rawtenstall after a crash.

Police were called to the area at 1.25am, to reports of a crash involving a Mercedes car and a lorry.

The Mercedes driver was taken to hospital with head injuries.

Officers say they are working to reopen the road “as soon as possible”

A police spokesperson said: “Please be aware the A682 at Rawtenstall, Rossendale[1] is currently closed due to a Road Traffic Collision, between New Hall Hey Road and St Mary’s Way.

“We were called at 1.25am. Officers attended and found that a Mercedes car had collided with a lorry which was stationary in a layby.

“The driver of the car suffered head injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.

“We’re working to reopen this as soon as possible. Many thanks for your patience”.
