Person fighting for their life after falling onto train tracks

A person is fighting for their life after falling onto train tracks at an Essex train station. The incident happened at Harold Wood Railway Station yesterday (July 11) where emergency services were called shortly before 8.30pm following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

British Transport Police, London Ambulance Services, London Fire Brigade, and London Air Ambulance all attended the scene. An air ambulance helicopter was seen landing at Harold Wood Park.

London Ambulance Service confirmed to EssexLive that the person fell onto the tracks. The casualty was treated at the scene before being rushed to hospital for further treatment.

The Elizabeth line services were severely disrupted between Romford and Shenfield as a result of the incident for most of the evening. A British Transport Police spokesperson said: “Officers were called to Harold Wood station shortly before 8.30pm on Tuesday, 11 June following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

“Paramedics also attended, and a person has been taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. This incident is not being treated as suspicious.” A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called on Tuesday 12 July at 8.18pm to reports of a person falling onto the tracks at Harold Wood Rail Station, RM3.

“We sent a number of resources to the scene including an ambulance crew, an incident response officer, a team leader, members of our Hazardous Areas Response Team (HART), and London’s air ambulance. We treated a person at the scene before taking them to a London major trauma centre.”
