Oxford railway station closure starts today amid strike disruption
Buses will replace services between the city and stations in Banbury[1], Didcot, Hanborough, Leamington Spa and Oxford Parkway.
The station is shutting for track and signalling work, which Network Rail says will make it quicker and easier for trains to get in and out of the station. The closure is part of the £161m project to upgrade the city centre station[2] that has also seen the temporary closure of Botley Road.
Passengers using bus replacement services to get to stations elsewhere in the county[4] should be prepared for further disruption, however, as rail unions begin fresh industrial action this weekend.
Due to Rail strikes passenger loadings are extremely high. Passengers advised to go to Gloucester Green London bound & Victoria Oxford bound to get a seat.

Members of the RMT union will strike today (Saturday, July 29), causing widespread changes to timetables.
From Monday (July 31) until Saturday, August 5, an overtime ban by members of the Aslef union is expected to result in last-minute cancellations and alterations to services, Great Western Railway has warned.
