The Lamborghini Huracan is coming to the end of production after nine years, and its replacement will have a hybrid powertrain. Read on for all you need to know about this new supercar.

  • New Lamborghini Huracan replacement spotted
  • Plug-in hybrid supercar
  • Name not yet known
  • Expected to use an electrified V8
  • Could have around 900hp
  • On sale next year

This is the long-awaited replacement for the Lamborghini Huracan. The new supercar doesn’t have a name yet, and it’s in the early stages of development, however we do know that it will be a hybrid.

The 5.2-litre naturally-aspirated V10 in the current Huracan will face the chop, with its replacement likely to be a turbocharged V8. Expect to see this car make its debut in 2024.

New Lamborghini Huracan replacement design

The Huracan’s replacement is wearing a heavy disguise for now, with some stickers designed to fool you into thinking it’s an old Gallardo, however you can make out a few of the styling details.

The biggest change up front is those razor-thin headlights. There’s something a touch Ferrari-ish about them, although the hexagonal running lights in the lower bumper are very on-brand for Lambo.

Looking from the side you can see that the unmistakable wedge shape is here to stay, and there’s a new side vent design as well. The rather questionable-looking wheels fitted to this prototype will just be for testing purposes.

Looking at the rear of the car, it doesn’t look like the Huracan replacement will have an exposed engine like the Lamborghini Revuelto does, however it does share that car’s high-mounted exhaust design. The taillights are covered with stickers for now.

New Lamborghini Huracan replacement engine performance

Lamborghini’s boss Stephan Winkelmann has already said that every car in the brand’s range will be hybridised in some way by the end of 2024, and the Huracan’s replacement is no exception.

To this end, the 5.2-litre naturally-aspirated V10 is expected to be ditched in favour of a (slightly) greener V8. It could use the 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 from the Lamborghini Urus[1] and Audi RS Q8[2].

The Urus Performante makes 666hp from its V8, so this paired with an electric motor or two could be pretty potent. The flagship Lamborghini Revuelto uses three electric motors, boosting its V12 by 190hp.

So if the new Huracan replacement were to use the 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 from the Urus, paired with the tri-motor hybrid system from the Revuelto, it could have close to 900hp.

New Lamborghini Huracan replacement price and release date

You can expect to see the Lamborghini Huracan replacement make its debut towards the middle of next year, but expect to see a price hike over the current car. This new plug-in hybrid[3] supercar could fetch close to £250,000.
