New date for when major Nuneaton road closure will be lifted

The date has been confirmed when a long-running major road closure in Nuneaton will finally be lifted. Gipsy Lane has been closed since the start of February.

The closure was put in place on February 6 and Warwickshire County Council[1], which is responsible for roads, said that it would remain in place until Autumn 2023. This is for works including the creation of a new roundabout and ghost island junction to provide access for the new Bellway Homes housing development

CoventryLive asked the county council for an update on the works and when the closure is likely to be lifted. A Shire Hall spokesman said they should be complete November, then the road closure lifting will follow.

“Gipsy Lane, Nuneaton[3] remains closed during the road works to provide access to the new housing development, this is in order to protect the workforce and reduce the duration of the works overall,” the spokesman said.

“The progress of these works is being monitored in order that the road can be re-opened as quickly as possible. The works are currently expected to complete during November and further updates will be released as the work progresses.”
